Received an email on Tuesday morning from a lady at the department that had offered me the MK job, asking me to phone her as soon as possible. When I rang she said that while the post I'd been offered last September had been abolished, they did have a vacancy for an Admin Officer so were now offering it to me.
Nineteen days after being off, my move to MK was back on.
After explaining about salary for a little while, she asked if I had a summer holiday planned. I said I'd be away at the Olympics, so she replied that since I'll be undergoing some intensive training when I start, they'd better set my start date for after I return from the Games. So I arrive there on Monday 13 August.
I walked round to see Bob and update him on the situation; he was sorry to be losing me four months before he had to but pleased for me that I'd found a permanent post.
Yesterday morning my contact in MK rang and said to let her know if she could help with anything ahead of my going there. So she's now going to keep an eye on their staff notice board and see if any rooms for rent get advertised.
I had to keep quiet until today - to the point of accepting Lin's commiserations on having the offer withdrawn first thing this morning - as Elaine was away on a course Tuesday and yesterday. Once I'd spoken to Elaine, word travelled fast around the office; by the time I moseyed down to the office Jubilee Fete today, Sue #5, who was running a second-hand book stall, had heard, and on my way back up to my floor Rachel, an old colleague from the Shitpool, stopped me to offer her congratulations.
