Demelza, Lin, Philip and I got talking about the traditions of a 'pinch and a punch' and saying 'white rabbits' today. When Demelza went for a fag break at 11.50, I kept looking over my shoulder thinking she was planning to ambush me with a pinch and a punch just before the 12 noon deadline, but she returned at 11.57, went back to her desk and stayed there. I'm sure she heard my sigh of relief just after the magic hour.
Philip revealed that he'd said 'white rabbits' on getting up this morning but that, alas, it didn't count because his actual first words of the month were 'oh blast, I've knocked it off again' after he knocked his alarm clock off his table pressing the silence button.
I'd given up hope of ever getting into the '92 Club' - I've done 47 of the current league grounds but only 40 of them count under the Club's strict rules, and a non-league nut like me is never going to put in the expenditure, and time away from the grass roots game which is my real love, to get round them all - but thought I'd found a perfect alternative in the 100 Grounds Club, which I learned about two weeks ago, for people who'd seen football matches on any 100 grounds (any club down to the lowliest level of non-league counts as long as the venue can be called a 'ground' not just a pitch in a field; grounds that have become defunct since your visit still count). I spent this evening compiling my list of grounds visited, 217 in all, then surfed onto the club's web site...only to find they closed their membership less than a month ago. Would you Adam and Eve it?
I really fancied myself wearing one of their nifty badges and all. Arsebiscuits.
