Aug. 11th, 2010 08:05 pmTo Havant after work to meet Dick for the drive to the girls' friendly at Southampton. As I was standing outside the clubhouse, just as Lisa arrived it started to rain. The weather had dried up by the time we got on the motorway...then Dick's phone constantly rang as players called to say they'd heard the match was off. Alex, who answered, told them it was still on; then she rang Trevor to check and he said the same. But seconds later the phone went again - it was Billie, who'd arrived at the venue early and been told by the people there that the game was off as there wasn't a pitch available. Finally this filtered through to Trev, and Alex was left the task of putting off all the players.
Dick, naturally, was well radged off on the drive back, though Lisa kept our spirits up by passing round the Hob Nobs. On the homeward leg I was gobsmacked to hear the identity of the lover of a young lady I rather like; while I knew she had a boyfriend, because she never talked about him I naturally believed him to be a stranger. In fact, I am fairly well acquainted with the gentleman in question, although he apparently keeps the relationship top secret. Take my word, this really is a turn-up.
Dick dropped me by Fareham bus station. Home, via Burger King.
