Jun. 21st, 2010 07:08 pmThe office's serious England fans Lin, Terry and Matt were predictably downbeat this morning. I did my best to get their heads up, saying I think England will beat Slovenia (which I do), pointing out that Slovenia threw a 2-0 lead away on Friday and would have lost if the Americans hadn't had a perfectly good goal chalked off. Lin's natural optimism seemed to be returning by mid-morning; Terry gloomily predicted England would lose, suggesting tongue in cheek that Slovenia collapsed on purpose to lull the Three Lions into a false sense of security!
As some of the ladies, glad to have a distraction from the World Cup, reminded us, Wimbledon started today. I've not bothered with the goings-on from strawberries and cream land for the last few summers, but this year's different - my Kim is there again *squee* She was on first, so from noon onwards, in between coding cases I kept making quick clicks on the Wimbledon website to see how she was getting on. Of course she won comfortably in straight sets *<3* Then Lin did her best to keep us updated with Portugal's avalanche of goals against poor old Korea DPR.
Logged on to the net this evening to see the sad news that Frank Sidebottom has died. RIP Frank, never to be forgotten, a true comic legend - you know you were, you really were.
