Mar. 23rd, 2009 03:52 pmAn hour into the shift, Pat collared me and led me over to the round table with comfy seats at the far end of the unit for our feedback meeting on my annual self-assessment. She had no problems with either my assessment or my performance over the year - in fact, she made me sound like a terrible Peter Perfect, which was a bit embarrassing as I know there are several areas in which I could improve my performance, but it was nice to know that I'm a valued member of the team. She concluded by saying she'd be recommending me for a performance bonus which should be paid at the end of May - "in time for your holiday", she smiled - and that the wheels are in motion for me to be transferred to Sue #5's line management when Pat moves out of the unit next week.
One of my calls was to an elderly Scotsman who was a little reluctant and, in the end, when I asked if this was a convenient time to do the survey, said "Just carry on" ... and hung up. So is 'just carry on' a Scottish slang expression for 'get lost'?
