While I've stopped sneezing now, my internal nasal passages are still full up with snot so I have to have a massive honking blow every now and then.

Matt, another Gosport based Hawk, gave me a lift to the FA Cup tie at Bognor. We parked at the Wheatsheaf where the travelling Hawk support were gathering. After a quick hello to Mark, Simon and Co who were sitting out front, I rejoined Matt inside and bought my customary Magners. He said he'd been told the food was excellent, and there was a '2 meals for £6.95' deal, so we ordered an 8 oz burger and chips each - excellent. Malc, Aly and Co were sitting at a table near ours, and enjoying lots of banter - mostly in-jokes - with some of the others. Several people were raving about a Swedish pear cider, but, alas, its delights remain a mystery to me as I'd no sooner finished my Magners than everyone started making their way to the ground.

A ropey first half produced no goals. The Bognor tea hut was most impressive - it's no less than a miniature chip shop, both in appearance and in the food on offer, which even includes battered cod and quarter chicken breasts as well as the usual matchday fare. I went for the chicken breast - very tasty.

10 minutes into the second half, Bognor scored and resigned gloom descended on the travelling Hawk support. With our recent form, everyone was convinced there was no way Hawks would come back into the game. 10 minutes later, though, we were joyously proved wrong when Andy Gurney scored with a marvellous free header. Then 10 minutes from the end a Gurney cross was struck home by Jamie Slabber to give us the win. Dare we hope Hawks might have a decent cup run?

Matt said to me in the Gents on the way out "We were awful, weren't we?" I couldn't agree. It wasn't a great game but we'd got the win. We gave a lift home to a courting Hawk couple we'd met in the pub - a long-distance relationship; she lives in Adelaide, Australia! Fair play to her, she was wearing a Hawks shirt and promised to recruit friends back home into an Adelaide branch of the supporters' club. Matt asked her to only get single women...

Home just a few minutes into X Factor. Sad to see Barbara knocked out in stage two, as was Paris, one stage earlier than I hoped. But...

*drumroll*

*** W4 ARE THROUGH TO THE PENULTIMATE PHASE ***

as are Same Difference, so all's right with the world (for a week at least).
