Sep. 11th, 2007 10:41 pmWomen's World Cup : Massive respect to North Korea! Despite their #5 world ranking, the commentator seemed to think the USA would muller them. Both teams turned in a fine display of ladies' footie, and North Korea played superbly to earn a deserved draw. They're shaping up to be the surprise package of the tournament.
England v Japan : Kelly Smith at her brilliant best to score two well taken goals. You have to say Aya Miyama was magnificent, scoring two beautiful goals direct from free kicks, even though it was gutting to concede an injury time equaliser. England will really have to go all out to restrict Germany to just one or two goals then stick loads past Argentina now.
My first visit of the season to Cams Alders this evening, for Fareham Town v Fleet Spurs in the Wessex League Cup. Lovely cold Magners in the bar pre-match, first-class bacon butty at half-time. After a string of disastrous results Fareham really needed a win tonight. They got it - 4-1, so the penalty they had saved in injury time didn't matter. Here's hoping that gives them a morale boost that carries over into their league form.
Got to go read the remaining 100-odd pages of my library book on King Stephen, as it has to go back tomorrow.
