Apr. 9th, 2007 07:41 pmHawks at home to Eastleigh. In the clubhouse for my pre-match Magners I met Mark, who was thoroughly enjoying Portsmouth losing 4-2 at Watford on Sky - talked to him till I was called over by Louise. She was sitting with Jodie, Laura, Sam and Ollie - the girls seemed to find everything I said hilarious, and were amused at my choice of pre-match tipple as Jodie is apparently a Magners drinker. I knew she was a top lass.
Brett Poate scored with a cracker of a ground-level shot halfway through the first half, but after the break Eastleigh came out fighting and, after their constant pressure, it was no surprise when in the 87th minute they equalised from the rebound after a free kick. Just before, Wilko had been sent off for a second bookable offence, drawing abuse from a couple of guys sat not far from me. When, after the Eastleigh goal, Trevor announced that the sponsors had chosen Wilko as man of the match, one of the blokes exploded - "You're having a fucking laugh!" In the end a draw was all Hawks deserved, but it was definitely two points dropped.
Into the bar to watch the final scores coming in on Sky Sports News. Happier news - Salisbury, Bishop's Stortford and Braintree all lost, putting us back up to third.
Stuffed with Easter chocolate.
