Apr. 6th, 2007 07:05 pmA pleasant sunny day, hot enough to wear just a T-shirt but not uncomfortable heat - just right. Getting off the ferry, walked up from the Hard to Commercial Road for a falafel and humus kebab at Ken's then took the train to Havant for the girls' game with Southampton Saints Youth.
We won 5-1. Two goals from the amazing Kay - Trevor said she goes to sea tomorrow; she's going to be missed for the rest of the season. Jodie was awesome in defence.
At half-time, came away from the tea hut to see Jade talking to Flo and a couple of girls from Portsmouth reserves. Jade started to reminisce about away trips they'd all done when she was at Pompey with them; Flo said "Great days" and pretended to tear up, so I tried to persuade her to sign for Hawks...
As I left the ground after my post-match Pepsi and said goodbye to Rob and Lisa they both said 'thanks for coming'. Don't mention it, guys, I'm a supporter.
Back at Gosport bus station, all the indicators read 'No departures from this stand'. My first thought was that, being a bank holiday, the buses must have stopped for the day (though it wasn't even 5.30; that seemed too early). But there were plenty of people waiting around. I was just starting to walk all the way home when a bus appeared, though when it had disgorged its load of passengers it headed for the back of the station and just sat there. Another one came before too long, but did the same. I then heard a couple of old ladies debating which bus was supposed to leave when, so spoke to one of them; she said "the 72's supposed to go at 5.35, but the buses are all up the chute because of the roadworks". A third bus appeared and sat at a stand, but its doors soon closed and stayed resolutely shut. Again I began to walk, when one of the buses at the back pulled into a stand, and opened at last. Home for hot cross buns.
