Jan. 4th, 2007 06:32 pmWhen I arrived in the telephone unit, several of the girls were excitedly discussing last night's Celeb BB5 opener. Vanessa said it had been really funny. The news that caused my ears to prick up was that Cleo Rocos is a housemate! I've always been a fan of Cleo. Both Amanda and Vanessa really liked her, saying she was the one they'd bond most with, they compared notes on her unusual hairdo (I'm going to have to search for clips on Youtube or pics online now to see!) and Amanda said "She's beautiful." "Yes, I've always fancied her," I replied, much to Vanessa's amusement.
Sticking to my decision to never watch any more BB after finding out the truth about that programme last August is going to be agony knowing Cleo's in there.
Then Sue #1, Carolyn and Carole arrived and asked me who'd been evicted from Just The Two Of Us last night. I told them Janet and Alexander - they weren't surprised as they hadn't been impressed with Janet's singing.
"Were you watching Celeb BB, then?" I asked them.
"Yes," said Carolyn. "It was rubbish."
On the nibbles table today were a treat I hadn't known existed, Milk Chocolate After Eights! They're VERY tasty, but I only got one, as the box was only half full to begin with and they'd all been wolfed before the halfway mark of the shift :(
Val listened in to one of my calls today and corrected me on a couple of points. If someone says they usually work 'x to y' hours a week, you can't just go in the middle, you have to push them to give a definite figure. And you mustn't ask if someone has a 'postgraduate' degree, you have to call it a 'higher' degree. So there.
Went down to the canteen expecting breaded turkey escalope to be on offer, as that was on the week's printed menu under Thursday, but instead it was cottage pie. I was offered a choice of 'rustic' or 'ordinary' cottage pie; the lady said "The rustic's got onions in the top." I went for rustic, much to her delight - "We like a bit of rustic, don't we?" she said with glee to her colleague. It was delicious.
For what I'd decided would be my last call I phoned a lady at 2.23. With the end of the shift so near, I told her I'd rung to arrange a time when we could call her back to do the survey, but she said "Can we do it now?" So I was stuck doing her for 20 minutes and missed the bus. Sat in the library for three-quarters of an hour clearing e-mails.
