A treat on the nibbles table today : Battenburg cake, broken up into quarters. There was also a large bar of French nutty chocolate, brought back by two of the girls who went to France last week, but that didn't last long.

I was next to Vanessa today and we talked about I'm A Celeb; she said it's been really good so far. We agreed that the viewers were rotters for keeping voting Jan to do the Trials, and predicted that she'd also get voted to eat the creepy-crawlies when that came round.

Only one black spot on the shift : a bloke who went off on one the moment I phoned him because last year we'd kept him on the phone for, in his opinion, too long. I had to ask him if he was sure he couldn't spare 15 minutes some time in the next fortnight, but he insisted no, and I had to listen to the beginnings of another lecture before I was able to end the call. On the bright side, I did persuade a lady who had opened by telling me "Can you please take me off the list", because she said she was too busy, to let us try her next week and see if she had time then.

I've been keeping the medieval night Marstons in the cooler bag all day - will break the first one open for Celtic v Man U tonight.
