eiffel_71The best thing about working Mondays and Tuesdays on a shift swap is that the Mon/Tue gang still have nibbles! Today sounded the death knell for my laughable attempt at dieting, though, as on offer were Greek millefeuille biscuits, Doritos plus sour cream and chive dip, and chocolate-marshmallow-jam teacakes, and I paid the table many a visit.
Sarah #1 and Sue #3 both agreed to buy a book of my Hawks supporters' club raffle tickets tomorrow, so fingers crossed that'll be my last two books gone :) There was also frustration this morning, though, as a week ago Sue #4 had promised to have a problem I've been having with the new computerised personal records looked at, but today still nothing's been done, she's off on annual leave and no-one was willing to suggest anyone else could help me. Flamin' useless.
At the end of the shift Vanessa asked whether I'd be in tomorrow. I replied yes and she asked "Who are you tomorrow?" (meaning who have I swapped shifts with).
"Rachel." So Vanessa said she wanted to see me in a skirt and high heels...
This evening my mother and I went to a reception hosted by the Groundwork Solent youth community and environment project. Mostly milling around sipping wine (I went for a fruity rosé) and talking to Groundwork directors, Portsmouth Housing Association bods and a couple of councillors; we also had to listen to a speech from my mother and watch a presentation about Groundwork's work. The buffet was mostly seafood, but I soon found plenty of cheese - including my two favourites, feta and Swiss - plus some strawberries, so that was me set up for the evening :)
