Spent the daytime wading through my e-mail mountain with Ocean FM in the background. Ocean were celebrating the last day of school by ripping up the playlist for the day and having the DJs just play anything they liked, all with an end of term/summer hols theme - so we had all the 'school's out' type songs and loads of summer hits. Steve, the mid-morning DJ, asked listeners to text in with memories of what songs were hits when they left school, and in many cases they played the tracks mentioned. But when I, truthfully, texted in to say Star Trekkin' by The Firm was #1 when I left school, and added 'Great record', Steve said 'The jury's still out on that one' - and didn't play it. Plus, because I am cursed with a unisex first name, he thought I was a woman and referred to me as 'she' :(

Back on the mayoral trail tonight, to Crofton, where we were official guests at an amateur dramatic group's performance of Find The Lady. I'd thought the writer was Bill Pertwee, the legendary comic actor, so we were expecting a comedy, till we looked at the letter of invitation and saw the author was Michael Pertwee. From then we didn't know what kind of play to expect.

Outside the community hall someone shouted hello to me. I turned - it was Amanda from my office. I went over to her; it turned out she was involved with the group and was assistant producer of tonight's play. She followed me inside and we chatted while my mother and I were welcomed and offered a cup of tea (being a scorching evening we went for orange juice). Looking at the photos from the play on the notice board, I said it looked like a thriller. It turned out to be a murder mystery. It was a very good show, with a gripping story, some witty lines and fine performances from all the cast. The lady playing the silent kleptomaniac, Miss Dainty, had the same name as a girl I'd been friends with at sixth form college and looked like her, so at the interval I asked the lady co-organiser of the group, who was looking after us for the evening, whether this woman was in her mid-thirties. She didn't know, but she promised to ask her whether she'd been at the college with me.

As we got into the Mayoral car after, John remarked on Amanda calling out to me when we arrived, and gave me some stick about how I 'attract pretty women wherever we go'...
