Tonight's episode was a prime example of why I love Top of the Pops 1978 so much. Legendary tracks from David Essex, Boney M and the one and only Jilted John. An iconic performance of Picture This by Blondie, consolidating Debbie's hold on second spot in my Pop Babe of '78 contest. The joy of discovering music from the era I hadn't previously heard, from acts like The Motors. Kid Jensen's song intros. A double helping of Legs & Co, first a great fun routine to Brown Girl In The Ring roping in some of the other artists, then a sublime dance from three of them, including my favourite Patti *mwah*, to the Commodores - fittingly, three ladies for Three Times A Lady. And my set being a black and white, I get the authentic 1978 viewing experience.

Best thing on TV.
