Interlude

Travelled down to Gosport on Friday evening to seek out some notes I'd made for a novel I've had at concept stage for years. Found most of them yesterday evening in the bottom box of a large pile of boxes and folders - all that shifting was no picnic with my bad shoulder, but at least I found some mementoes from my sixth form college days. Alas, my notes describing the bits of Alfreton between the station and the football ground, made on a visit in 2005, appear to have vanished. I will have to rely on memory.

Had messaged Katherine to ask if she was free to meet last night but no reply on either her mobile or her landline. I guess she's still in France. So after turning up my notes I spent the evening listening to the British number ones of 1970-72 on Veronica.

This morning and the journey back came round far too soon. Met some Wigan Athletic fans on their way to Wembley in Waterloo tube, wished them luck in coming straight back up - and I did think of you, just_jenni.

Awww...congrats on finding the notes for your novel...at least most of them. I wish you good luck on getting started with it and finishing, and anything good that might come your way after that. :)

This morning I watched the Community Shield match! Was a good one despite the fact that United won. But was to be expected I suppose.

The match commentators did speculate that the United supporters at Wembley outnumbered those of Wigan about 8-1 but hastened to add that the Wigan club had asked him to mention that they had sold about 50,000 tickets, which ain't bad for a town of 85,000 or thereabouts.

Awwww...thanks for thinking of me...did you watch the match as well or another one?
