Complicated

Went down to Gosport for the weekend. Slapped on the sunscreen and popped over to the Isle of Wight yesterday to see The Villagers do The Taming of the Shrew at Quarr Abbey. Plenty of cold bottled water in the cafe, thank goodness, and I did allow myself one treat - a slice of Abbey honey and marzipan cake. Aussie and Carol were staggered to see me before the show - they'd been sure I wouldn't make it now that I'm no longer local. Met Aussie again for a quick chat after the play, he asked if I'd be coming down at weekends to see Gosport Borough play! I had to explain about my parlous finances :( but said I'd try and get to see them at Staines (a ground I haven't done) in March.
My mother and Aunt Cynthia did the Race for Life in Southsea today so we got the ferry over together and I waved them off and wished them good luck at the Hard before getting the train back. My taxi driver home from Leighton station was a chatty young Asian guy calling himself Smiley. Unlike most of Leighton's cabbies, who work for companies, Smiley is self-employed; he hires a cab from one of the firms. He gave me his business card with his mobile number and asked me to use him in future and tell my friends.
It was a good thing he did give me the card because earlier this evening a check of my pockets and my room showed that my mobile phone was nowhere to be found. I have had it fall out of my pocket in taxis before (but previously always managed to retrieve it before the cabbie disappeared) so I phoned Smiley from my landline. He did indeed have my phone and, after establishing when I'd be free tomorrow, told me to come to Leighton station at five.
