Sandra from our office had posted on the internal message board that she'd started a monthly Singles Club locally as a place for unattached people to have a chat and a dance, with subs just £3 a time. I popped along last night, expecting it to be only people from work. In fact there were all sorts present, and the group has an advert on the venue's notice board - from that, I learned for the first time that it has a name, 'Positively Single'. When I asked Sandra, she said it had been running since last summer. Things were pretty quiet early on, although a mixed quartet of young people had fun persuading the DJ to put the Beautiful South on. The arrival of a group of five older women livened the place up a little and I went and joined their table. Guess what - the one I got on best with, Rose, was married. She just comes along to keep her friends company. Her group and Sandra were sorry to see me leave early - they said the gatherings truly come alive in the second half - but I had an early start this morning. Will take the following day as official hols next time.
Extra half-hour in bed this morning, as after last night's Kopparbergs I took the bus in and had breakfast at Maccy D's during the half hour wait for my connecting bus at Fareham, but still felt like a zombie all day. Before I left, made sure I sent that email to Sue requesting the day after next month's gathering as holiday.
Just finished doing my latest assignment for the RSS course - that really is me done for the evening. 'Night folks.
