To Westleigh Park for the Bank Holiday derby with E*******h. Dick arrived in the bar at around ten to two (sans Lauren today as she's visiting her dad in Scotland - but coming back in time for next Sunday's game, top lass). We had a good chinwag about the fortunes of the Hawks Ladies and the frustration of players taking holidays during the season. Dick had bad news : Laura, who had to go off with an ankle injury yesterday, turned out to have broken it and was in QA, so he was waiting on a phone call, ready to leave the ground at any time to give her a lift home from the hospital. The good news was that my friend Tracy had signed on for Hawks this morning, solving our imminent goalkeeping crisis.

A chat with Malc inside the stadium - he explained that his posse hadn't made it to the Waterfront on Saturday night because poor old Bob crashed his car before they left for Dorchester that day, so they'd spent the evening at the ground waiting for the tow truck.

Hawks turned in a much improved performance but, alas, that first win still eluded us. Twice we took the lead, a close-range bullet shot from Sammy Igoe and a pearler from a free kick by Muzzy Tiryaki, but each time the scum got an equaliser - a penalty in the third minute of first half injury time, and a header from a corner in the third minute of second half injury time. Muzzy's goal had come with just seven minutes left on the clock so we'd been sure Hawks were coasting to a win, making the Beasts' late leveller that bit more sickening - certainly their fans behind the goal celebrated as if they'd won.
