eiffel_71Driving lesson. Any boost to morale from pulling off a good turn in the road (an impromptu one, forced by finding a road closed) was rapidly punctured when, coming out of the junction and still steering left as instructed to make room for a car coming the other way, I nosed out of the junction to be faced with two oncoming cars close up on the right, and another approaching from the left. With the thought "Bloody hell, where did all that lot come from?" I ended up stalling there, in the worst possible place. From there on it was all a complete nightmare - I mounted pavements twice coming round corners and even my usually best manoeuvre, the bay park, let me down. Peter reckoned it was lack of concentration, though maybe it being my first lesson wearing my fairly new shoes might have led to my losing my touch on the clutch - previously I'd stuck to my familiar old pair for driving lessons even though their soles are falling apart.
And Hawks have just gone one down. Aargh.
