eiffel_71My very first call of the shift was to an elderly man who, after completing the interview, turned into Mr Angry and gave me gallons of flak about how he felt he shouldn't have to do it again and how the survey was all a waste of time and money. I argued as best possible, but was up against an unsurmountable wall : he was only really interested in the sound of his own voice. I could easily have proved him wrong given the opportunity, but never got the chance. Rollocks.
I did at least get to come off the phones for the last hour of the shift, after Sue #5 sent me an email flagging up a full time vacancy elsewhere in the office, and Phil asked me to step into his office for a talk about how I might be able to jazz up my application. There was a bit of a hiccup - the application deadline is tomorrow and my application needs countersigning by my outgoing line manager Pat, who isn't around until Friday - but when I left at the end of the shift Sue and Phil were busy making phone calls and sending e-mails to try to make sure my application gets a fair crack. Cool.
