eiffel_71We had a promotion about data safety at work today, with people at a table in the canteen handing out leaflets (with a quiz competition), coasters and chocolates. I declined a chocolate, explaining that I've given them up for Lent, but still got given one each by Lynda and Jenny, who said to save them. So I'll put them on the sideboard, where me ma can have them if she fancies, otherwise I will if they're still there at Easter.
At the end of the shift Barry and Pat asked if I'd got my goodies earlier, as they had a load to hand out to people who hadn't made it downstairs. When I referred to the coaster as a 'beer mat', Barry interjected "That is [office] issue. It is not a BEER MAT, it is a COFFEE MAT." "But it also makes a good beer mat," Mark called from further down the row. Pat observed that she could never give chocolate up for Lent - she couldn't go without it for six and a half hours, let alone weeks...
