Congrats to my babe Tiffany Porter on her magnificent silver!
Went to the Seahorse last night, where Hardcore Sue had invited all her locally based friends to gather to celebrate her moving into her new flat following her marriage break-up. Jeanne, who'd been a pal of mine back at FE college, was there so we had a good chat about old friends and how life is treating us these days. One of Jeanne's first enquiries was "How's your love life?" When I replied "Non-existent", she asked why and I explained that I don't get to meet single women - my female work colleagues are generally married or partnered. She said I needed to have an affair with one of them...
There were a whole bunch of Sue's friends that I'd never met but they were a friendly lot and we spent most of the evening chatting about football (three of the men were Nottingham Forest fanatics and another was a Pompey fan), music (especially the merits, or otherwise, of all our juke box selections), holidays and the uselessness of Sue's soon to be ex-husband.
As we said our goodbyes at 11.40, after the patient barmaids asked us to drink up and go, the Forest fans all gave the Pompey fan firm handshakes and told him "You've been Forested!" I shook his hand firmly and added "And Fishered!" much to the Forest fans' amusement.
