Up at 5 am to shift all my boxes of stuff that survived the clear-out out of the way of the window and onto my bed, for when the windows guy came to measure this afternoon. Flopped in front of Olympic Breakfast, which provided the perfect early-morning tonic with news of those lovely young ladies Rebecca Adlington and Joanne Jackson coming first and third in the 400 freestyle.
A little group, mostly women, gathered in the coffee lounge before work this morning to watch the synchronised diving. Everyone had a laugh at the Russian routine that went badly wrong - one guy even came out with the old line "They'll be in the salt mines tomorrow." Never let a little thing like Communism falling 17 years ago get in the way of a joke. Disappointment all round as the British pair could only come 8th thanks to a couple of bad dives; then, after Jose had found time to wind up one lady, who was half-American, when the US pair dropped out of the medals, they all cheerfully pottered off to their offices with an "Ah, well, never mind" smile.
As I arrived in my booth Sue #3 asked if I'd been watching the Games. I said yes; she said "Did you see Nicole Cooke?" I was glad to bring her the news of Rebecca doubling the Team GB gold count plus Jo's bronze. Sue was over the moon.
Finished my last interview at 2.26. Just had time to tap in my payclaim and put my earphones back in the box before sprinting through the unit, down the stairs and out to the bus stop. Made it with three minutes to spare - though the bus arrived late in the end anyway.
Got to go hump everything back off my bed and onto the floor.
