There's been a HawkSupport league set up within the Daily Telegraph's Fantasy Football League, so I've joined. There are only four of us so far, plus Jose Mourinho and Alan Hansen whose teams appear in every league, but should be fun. When registering, there was a tab for 'Club Supported', which offered a choice only of the 92 Premier League and Football League clubs. There wasn't an option marked 'Other', so I tried to leave that bit blank. No go - it wouldn't let me submit my details without picking a club. So if you don't support one of the 92, you can't play Telegraph Fantasy Football unless you pretend you do. I call that discrimination against non-league fans.

I decided to put down as a Reading fan, as I have a little liking for them. It's still naughty not letting us put 'Other' though.

After an excellent roast beef and Yorkshire in the canteen, went up to the telephone unit to check my e-mail. There was a message from Pat to say she'd seen Sue #6 and arranged for the two outstanding corrections to be made to the roster.

I think she probably had a few words with Paul as well, because I said hello to him in the lounge and he blanked me. Made an enemy there, then - but the truth is he left me no alternative but to tell Pat.

Steve asked me how the Hawks v Portsmouth game last night; being a Pompey fan he was interested in my views on Sahar and Mvuemba. As I reported to the supervisors' desk at the start of the shift Albert, another Portsmouth fan standing next to me, said "Sorry about last night." He hadn't actually been so wanted the lowdown on the game. Terry, a Southampton supporter, had a different take on it - "We were rather hoping your boys would break a couple of their legs!" He added "Your season starts Saturday same as ours, doesn't it?"

"Yes. St Albans away."

He didn't ask if I'd be going; he already knew I would. "Best of luck. It'll be nice to see another of our local teams have some success apart from that horrible blue lot down the road."
