Just Like A Pill

eiffel_71Doctor today for the feedback from my blood pressure monitoring. She took a reading - high again. She printed me a few pages of information about hypertension - basically reaffirming the advice to eat healthily (I can get that back on track now the festive season's over), get more exercise, avoid caffeine and go easy on the alcohol. She prescribed me some tablets and told me to come back in two and four weeks' time for a blood test and progress reports.
Looking at the info, I notice that most sufferers have to take the tablets for life. As long as they work, fingers crossed.
From there I called at Forton Tyre Specialists a little way along the road to dispose of my destroyed tyre and buy a new spare. Just as well that I did. When I drove on to Eden Vauxhall to have a new hubcap and wheel trim fitted, the mechanic wasn't able to get the cap on the wheel that Steve fitted on my car yesterday. A quick consultation with his suited colleague revealed the problem. While my wheels are 14-inch, the one put on yesterday is only 13 - a "space-saver spare", the man in the suit called it. He warned me that driving around on a mixed combo of wheels is illegal. So I handed my keys to the mechanic once more, and retired to the waiting area to watch Flog It! while the pit crew changed the rogue tyre for my newly purchased 14-inch one.
What a day.
Home for a bite to eat, then spent the evening taking down the Christmas decorations.
Got to go watch Top of the Pops 1977.

With blood pressure meds,
study the possible side effects as thoroughly as you can,
and try to find the possibilities you'd most like to live with.

I'm on Ramipril, which has a lengthy list of possible side effects but the most common ones are feeling sick, dizziness and headache. Not experiencing anything yet, though it's early days...
