I was interviewing when Paula arrived this morning. When I came off the call, as it was the first time I'd seen her since Saturday's debacle in Basle, she immediately asked "Are you over the football yet?" She then asked how I'd managed to post on Facebook while in Birmingham coach station - "did you use your mobile phone?" I explained that my phone is a crappy model with no whistles or bells and certainly no internet, and that the coach station has a couple of £1-for-10-minutes internet PCs. When I mentioned that, with the Dutch out, I'm left with a hole until 8 July, she said "There's always Wimbledon." I said I'd watched Elena Baltacha's match yesterday, having allowed John Inverdale to convince me that she had a chance of winning - should have known better - and Paula and I confessed to each other that we both miss Kim Clijsters.

On the BBC coverage, Tracy Austin is looking rather lovely though *x*
