Dec. 15th, 2018 09:25 pmLeighton Town v Colney Heath this afternoon in pouring rain. About a dozen of us took cover in the corner of the ground by the snack bar. Never mind that we had a restricted view of the pitch - it was shelter from the rain, which before long became a monsoon and just carried on and on pelting down.
With Leighton leading 1-0, was an extended half time break as the ref, after much discussion with the two managers, debated whether to continue the game. After a long wait, word went round our corner "Game on!"
Colney equalised in the 56th minute but, soon after, two players challenging for the ball went down, and the ref blew to abandon the match.
At least I'd had two excellent bacon rolls during the first half and had the pleasure of hearing Lonely This Christmas and Fairytale Of New York during the long half time.
Walked through the rain to the High Street and took cover in the Black Lion, where there was a Christmas ale on called Rosey Nosey, until the bus home came.
Back indoors, hung my trousers up to dry. Heater on and feet up for the Strictly final. YES STACEY!!! ❤️
