Stitching In Time
Oct. 22nd, 2018 09:50 pmTo South London yesterday for Orient Women's Capital Cup tie at AFC Phoenix. There were Staropramen pumps in the clubhouse bar but, alas, the barmaid told me it was off. Settled for a local canned ale called Release The Chimps, not bad but a tad on the bitter side for my liking.
A team two divisions lower, but never underestimate the opposition in an away cup tie. Sure enough, ten minutes in, Phoenix took the lead. Happily it wasn't long before Sophie equalised. Near the end of the first half Orient got a penalty and Danni hammered home. Lisa notched a hat trick, Phoenix got a late consolation, Orient went through 5-2. Got to say hello to Lisa as the players came off.
Heard today that England Women have arranged a friendly with Austria, a team I admire, in Vienna, a city I'd love to visit. On a day that I can't get off work. Bloody rotate.
