The Road To Hell
Jun. 18th, 2014 06:51 pmDrove down to Gosport on Saturday for a few days' break around Father's Day and me ma's birthday. The M25 lived up to the name Chris area gave it, it was absolutely jammed for almost the whole length of my time on it, from junction 21 to junction 10. By the time I pulled into Wisley services just after joining the A3 I was ready to take a very long rest, and certainly in need of a cold drink. Happily the Little Chef there did apple and raspberry J2Os - and their home made burger was rather tasty. Bought a bag of Snowies on my way out for the evening's footy.
I'd hoped to meet Katherine on Saturday night but she'd texted during the week to cancel, and Hardcore Sue, after thinking she was able to meet on Monday evening, remembered that she had Pilates that night, so just spent most of the break sitting at the parents' watching the World Cup. Monday went yo the Apple store in Southampton to have my iPad seen to as the iTunes Store had kept freezing; the problem turned out to be too many apps on it. Tuesday we went to TGI Friday's in Fareham to celebrate my mother's birthday; we hadn't told the staff so she escaped getting a sparkling pudding and a chorus of Happy Birthday To You. I went for some tasty Jack Daniel's chicken; the sauce had a bit of a sting in its tail.
The time whizzed by too fast. But at least this morning there were the delights of poring over the Hatters' fixtures for the coming season - they've handed us a trip to Carlisle on the opening day! Still, summer's the best time to be going there so happy enough with that.
Went back by the A34 and A418. No problems apart from getting crowded into the wrong lane while orbiting Oxford and having to turn into a side street. Got back just before two. Had to pop to Leighton to collect my meds, from the surgery headed straight for Creighton's for some peanut butter ice cream.
Back home to see the Oranje win a cracker of a match v Australia :)
