At last, progress. A lady from the healthcheck company rang this afternoon and asked if their nurse could phone me next Thursday and ask some occupational health questions.
In other news, the tooth is out!
After two injections, one in the gum as usual and one into the inside of the jawbone (that one stung a bit), and after she had to switch to curved pliers to reach it, she got the wisdom tooth out fairly easily. The only pain came from her pressing heavily on the side of my mouth.
She showed me the tooth - there was a fair-sized rotting cavity in it, so no disputing that it had been beyond redemption - and told me to take a Nurofen before the anaesthetic wore off, then one more every four hours for the rest of today and all day tomorrow, to rinse with salt water at intervals through tomorrow, and to eat only on the other side for the next few days. Finally she gave me a piece of gauze to bite on if the gum bleeds.
Surprisingly easy.
