Savoy Truffle
Jan. 20th, 2012 06:17 pmFasting blood test this morning - no breakfast, only water allowed. Nothing much to it - the phlebotomist just had me roll my sleeve up, then felt around for a vein, put the needle in and filled up three little test tubes, then thank you and goodbye.
Bus home, got back just before 11.30. Watched Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? on Gold then moseyed up to the White Hart for a slap-up lunch.
To my new dentist in the afternoon for a routine check-up. I'd heard this practice was one of the best; she certainly gave me a thorough examination. She picked up on the little things that, for years, my previous dentists have been letting go, like little bits coming off fillings or that lump that came out of one of my wisdom teeth last year.
As I said, this one's thorough, and to have my four teeth in urgent need seen to she's going to do me three fillings, a spit and polish and a likely extraction. Grand total £900. The good news is that I can pay as I go, and space out the appointments so that they don't break the bank. And if I move to Milton Keynes before the treatment's over, her nurse is happy to give me my X-rays and treatment plan to give to my dentist in MK so I can have it finished there.
The bad news is that this bill, combined with my overhanging overdraft from Christmas, car insurance, car tax and new tyre, can only be made affordable by giving up football, both male and female, for the rest of the season.
So after this weekend I'll be spending my Saturday afternoons watching Mr Stelling and Co, and I'll be saying my emotional farewells to the Hawk girls this Sunday, a couple of months ahead of schedule.
I'm going to look on the bright side, and see weekends as a chance to relax and recharge my batteries.
Got to go have a bath ahead of popping over to Katherine's for the evening.
