Blackboard Jumble
Jan. 13th, 2012 01:30 pmBack to school this morning. It was the first exam paper on my AS level Maths course, and the course is provided by my old FE college, so it's at the college that the exams are held.
Not only that, my secondary school was on the same site, and the college opened there straight after I left school, so I was there continuously from ages 11 to 18. The place is completely different now, of course, though the exterior of the buildings is still familiar.
When I met the others outside the sports hall, Lindsay - who'd been at the FE college with me - said to me "Back to our old stamping ground," so I mentioned that I was now back for an AS level Maths, 23 years after I failed the Maths A level there. Lindsay, who didn't seem over confident, groaned "Oh, that's encouraging."
I didn't have too much trouble with the paper. I had to leave the last part of the last question out as I ran out of time, but have a good feeling about my answers otherwise, touch wood. Outside afterwards, we exchanged some quick words - a couple of them thought they'd done OK, the other two were less happy - and wended our separate ways homeward.
