Feb. 6th, 2011 09:17 pmDown to the New Forest to see the Hawks Ladies play Oxford City Ladies. The girls made heavy weather of it, but Charley bulged the onion bag just before half time, then Becki came on as a late sub, added a bit of fizz to the proceedings and sewed up the points with a beautiful second. Enough to keep us in front in the race for the play-off spot - so good enough to toast the victory with a London Pride in the bar. As I was being served one of the girls, who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty, heard me order a London Pride and asked me "What's your favourite beer?"
"Shepherd Neame's 1698," I replied.
Could she be a real ale connoisseuse - and she not quite 18 yet?...
As Kirsty MacColl sang, weekends go too fast. Better go set the alarm for 4.30 and hit the hay - 'night folks.
