Jan. 29th, 2011 11:59 pmWent to the New Theatre Royal to see Oddsocks' take on Hamlet. It lacked some of the fizz of their previous productions but there were plenty of funny moments, like Hamlet playing electric guitar and delivering the 'to be or not to be' soliloquy as an emo song, plenty of use of mobile phones and Oddsocks-style ad libs, and the legend that is Paul Daniels playing the ghost of Hamlet's father - he wasn't present on the stage, he appears in video form. Met Aussie on the way in and joined him and his work colleagues for a brief chat at the interval. Someone else I met pre-show was a lady who greeted me "Hello, Dennis." I guessed she thought I was someone else, but she said "You know me, from the telephone unit!" It came as quite a shock to her to hear my name wasn't Dennis.
