Nose and throat still stuffed with catarrh, but finally set foot of the house this morning, to attend an Extraordinary Meeting of the Southern Co-operative Party at the Holiday Inn on Gunwharf. Arrived quite early but several other members were already in the meeting room; seeing my Havant & Waterlooville shirt (one of them initially thought it was a Liverpool one because of the Carlsberg sponsor) the three other men there engaged me in conversation about the current troubles of Portsmouth FC.

After the meeting, into town for lunch at Ken's Kebabs. It started to pour with rain just after I emerged from Ken's; thankfully there was room under the bus shelter. Bus to WLP for the Hawks' FA Cup Fourth Qually tie with Histon. Although the opposition were from the Conference National I had a good feeling going into this game. Just before kick-off Dick, Lauren and another young lady took their seats in the VIP block; I popped over to say hello. Wished them luck for their away game at Plymouth tomorrow, explaining with a heavy heart that I'm still full of catarrh so just can't go a road trip to Devon, and have to rest up for my return to work on Monday. Lauren said "We'll stuff 'em" and we exchanged thumbs up gestures.

Behind me were summarisers from both Radio Solent and Radio Cambridgeshire, so those of us nearby got two conflicting views of the game. The Solent guy kept our section of the stand informed of the latest news from other local matches. Meanwhile, Wes Fogden gave Hawks a third minute lead, turning in a Steve Ramsey cross at point blank range. Early in the second half Histon put the ball in the net and their radio man excitedly informed his listeners that they'd equalised...only for the linesman to signal offside. Phew. Muzzy Tiryaki made it 2-0 to Hawks in the 63rd minute and from then on we always looked like winning.

So we're in the 1st Round again - YES! On the way out Lee said he wanted Huddersfield away. Me, I quite fancy going to Leyton Orient - I've a sentimental attachment to the East End and I'd fancy our chances of getting a result up there - or I'd like a League 2 struggler at home. Though in terms of gate receipts Sheffield Wednesday away is the plum...
