Sep. 7th, 2010 09:22 pmWe've got a heavy workload on this week so I ended up staying on until 4.20 today, a little later than planned. Still made it to the post office comfortably before they closed, but not in time to make next day delivery for Special D. From there, called at the BP station for a tankful just before popping into Lidl. A couple of hundred yards after leaving Lidl my car came to a sudden stop. Attempts to revive it just got a little juddering move forward. The only clue was the orange engineering fault light coming on. I rang the AA as I'm a member. The patrolman was there in less than ten minutes and, after examining under the bonnet and getting me to rev her up a couple of times, found the problem - a snapped timing belt. So I had to steer, indicate and brake while being towed on a pole to the local garage I use. As the garage was shut I've had to leave my motor parked outside for the night to drop the keys in tomorrow.
The AA man asked how I'd be getting home.
"Bus by the look of it."
He gave me a lift.
