Early this afternoon the gate man phoned me to ask me to move my car, as workmen were about to start digging nearby. I went down to the overspill car park - in spitting rain - and managed to find a spot over on the other side, but there was no sign of any construction workers there, though there was some work going on on the main site. Come the end of the day, the row I'd had to move my car from was full, and there were still no building works nearby.

I'm guessing the gate man mistook one of the cars parked on the main site by where the actual work was going on for mine, though sooner or later he must have realised his mistake when I didn't come and move the offending vehicle, and in that case a phone call to say sorry would have been nice. The alternative theory - that the gate man wanted a spot on my row cleared to allow someone else to park there, and chose me at random (or for some other reason) as the one to be shifted - seems too bizarre to be true. Ho hum.
