Arsebiscuits.

A day off work for the Queen's Birthday (it's neither her real nor her official one, but we're certainly not complaining) but, not only have I been having a boring time all day, but just a few minutes ago I reached the end of my tether with Norton 360 online backup.

Since my Norton anti-virus software renewed itself a few weeks ago, I've been getting little prompts to run the online backup. As I know from experience that Norton's online backup takes several days to run, I started it up early Friday evening, figuring that the mega-long weekend offered the perfect opportunity.

After one false start - my PC shut itself down overnight, meaning I had to start again on Saturday morning - all was going well until yesterday evening, then, as I was watching the Central Masters football approach its climax on telly, the backup got to 80% and then stopped as it had filled up all my available space. Cue my shelling out £34.99 for an extra 10 GB of Norton online backup space and starting again.

As usual, this time it ran much quicker, but just now, with the progress again at 80%, it crashed, a message appeared on the screen saying Norton had been unable to access one of my picture files.

So I'm still without online backup, after five days of trying, and I've sent 35 quid down the Swanee.

And, as I emailed Lady Mélisande to tell her about the Hawk girls' award ceremony, it occurred to me that I haven't had a personal email reply from her in several months. She's included me in her very occasional brief group emails to her friends, but that's been it. Even though she's coming back to England in September, I can no longer avoid the realisation that she is simply not and never will be interested in me romantically.

You're beautiful, you're beautiful
You're beautiful, it's true
But it's time to face the truth
I will never be with you...

And first thing tomorrow I'm back in the office. Cosmic.
