May. 2nd, 2010 07:32 pmTo Devizes for the Hawk girls' game with Swindon Town Ladies. Dick had told me at Yeovil that there'd definitely be a lift for me this week. Most of the girls were driving straight there; it was just the club officials and me, plus Sabrina who was travelling with Dick, who met up at Westleigh. With that, the absence of Lauren and Chloe on Hampshire Under-18 duty, and the chance of the title being gone, today was all very low-key.
We arrived at the ground about 12.45. The clubhouse wasn't yet open, and since Trev had said he'd be shooting straight off at full time to allow him to get back and set up the club presentation night this was my only possible time slot to get something to eat, so I accepted a lift from Susie (in search of nibbles herself) to the Morrisons in town, where I chowed down on a 'USA Style Chicken Burger' with chips and salad.
The first half was deadly dull. In the 35th minute Swindon scored in a breakaway. The girls rallied a little after the break and with 10 minutes remaining Charley volleyed home an equaliser.
And so straight back on the motorway.
Got to go for a wash and brush up before going over to Katherine's for early birthday drinks.
