Mar. 23rd, 2010 07:13 pmHawks at home to Braintree last night. Joined Simon, Tracey and Mark for a pre-match quaff. Simon said he had an interview coming up today at my workplace; I wished him luck, adding that we could do with another Hawk there to join Nigel and me.
The game was hard-fought, despite the pitch carving up badly, with both sides having plenty of chances, but it stayed scoreless until the 64th minute when Braintree took the lead with a raggy penalty. From then it looked like being one of those nights... With less than ten minutes left, I made my way down to pitchside in the corner by the exit so as to make sure of catching my bus. As it turned out, that gave me a ringside view when a Luke Medley cross was scuffed by Alban Jusufi, only for Jorge Lopes to get a foot to the ball and stab home the equaliser. Not quite the same feelgood factor as Saturday, but still salvaged our night.
One of the clocks on our side of our floor was showing the right time today; all the rest were several minutes fast or several minutes slow. We had a staff meeting in the map room this morning; of the two clocks there, one was showing the right time or thereabouts while the other was motionless at twelve o'clock.
At lunch break, bumped into Simon in the lobby. We talked a little about Hawks to the two ladies accompanying him (presumably his interviewers) in the lift.
