To solve the problem of our office clocks all showing slightly different times, over the weekend they were all replaced with new ones radio-controlled by the GMT transmitter at Rugby. All fine and dandy in theory - except half of them were motionless showing twelve o'clock. To get them going we had to walk around the office until we chanced upon a transmission 'hot spot' then press one of the buttons on the back of the clock. Then they set themselves to the right time. The one in the little kitchen area, strangely, was moving, but 15 minutes slow. My first attempt to reset it stopped it dead, so I tried again - it whirled right round the full twelve-hour cycle before finally coming to rest at precise Greenwich Mean Time. Meanwhile the hour and minute hands on the clock nearest to Sue and me work properly, but the second hand sits idle all day.

Mel #2 and Sharon asked whether the clocks would move themselves forward an hour this weekend or whether we'd have to do them all by hand again. Having owned a watch controlled by the same transmitter, I was able to inform them that the clocks will reset automatically.
