Bloody buses
Feb. 15th, 2010 06:55 pmThe 6 am bus was 20 minutes late this morning, meaning I missed my usual connecting bus to work and had to catch a later one, so Hazel and I found ourselves accompanied by Claire and Dave who both regularly take that one. So I was half an hour behind schedule checking in.
Then on arrival at the office, I got clocked in the face by a fast closing lift door. I gave voice to the painful shock in colourful language, while the rest of the group, and another bloke just arriving, just stood around like suet puddings apart from a lady who kept urging me "Put it in the accident book." I had no idea what accident book procedure was; the only one who did was Claire who said "You have to go to reception. Wait till they open at 8 or 8.30."
The early morning workload didn't allow me to get down to reception then, so I waited till lunch time, and was told "The man from the security office isn't here. He'll be back later this afternoon." As the reception girl didn't specify a time, I couldn't be arsed to haul my butt all the way down there again.
To top it all, the rest of my section - apart from Demelza, my best friend within the office - seemed to be cool and distant towards me for at least the first half of the day. So I've been decidedly fed up the whole time.
Worked on to 4.50 to offset the late start. Bus from work to Fareham 15 minutes late.
Bah.
