Nov. 28th, 2009 07:17 pmDriving lesson this morning. Got told off for waiting for an oncoming car before turning right when, in Peter's opinion, I had time to make the turn before the other car arrived. Of course I only went and fucking stalled when I did begin to make the move, and when I was finally making the turn got told "All that happened because you didn't go when you could have." I managed to restrict my reply to a faint "Feh." Also I was a bit slow doing gear changes today, and hammered on the brake too hard when having to make a sudden stop. For the first time, made the parallel park in a lay-by - went OK until the very end when I touched the side kerb marking the layby's beginning. Did a decent reverse round a corner though. With my test coming up Peter introduced the forward drive into a parking space - didn't go slow enough so ended up a bit diagonal.
Walking down the High Street on my way to Westleigh Park for Hawks v Maidenhead, I saw Sir Graball D'Encloseland handing out leaflets for one of our Tory hopefuls, but he was busy talking to a lady and her child so I don't know if he noticed me or not.
Going to the clubhouse bar for a refill of Kopparberg, I met Mark, Simon and Tracey at the bar. Mark folded his arms - "I don't talk to Fareham supporters." They proceeded to rip the piss out of me something chronic about my going to watch FTFC. At least they didn't mention kangaroo's jacobs... Grabbed a quick chat with Steph and Edge before going into the ground.
Before the game the guy in front of me said he couldn't see Hawks getting anything out of the game. I reckoned we might as we were on a roll since last week's win in the Trophy. "So you're predicting our second home win of the season?" he asked.
I thought for a moment. "Yes."
And we did win, 1-0, through a strike from a goalmouth scramble from recent signing Jon McDonald. Made the walk back to the station in torrential rain just about bearable.
