First Bus Hampshire really are getting right up my bugle now. Again today the 12.35 82 bus was just cancelled with the First staff once more conspicuous by their absence. This time I was savvy enough to board the 85 that left just after 12.40, though with that going all round the houses and a fair bit of traffic on the road, by the time I'd got my lunch from the chippy I didn't arrive home till just after 1.30. I would have appreciated a bit more rest time before my 2.30 driving lesson (and Peter rang the doorbell nearly 10 minutes early, so we could finish a little early for him to get to his other job), but the excellent Jumbo sausages, chips, gherkin and Pepsi and the Christmas The Good Life on GOLD were enough to put me in a more relaxed frame of mind.

Lesson went OK, apart from Peter having to hit the stop on me at a roundabout because one driver going round hadn't signalled, so I was blissfully unaware that I'd been about to turn plumb into his path. Also was a bit far to the right on both attempts at the reverse round a corner. Nonetheless Peter said to go ahead and book my test; Friday afternoons suit us both so we agreed on 11 December, but when I typed that date into the website it offered me only the 21st and 22nd of December, on both of which I have to work all day. A quick phone call to Peter established that he could do between Christmas and New Year, when my workplace closes, so I'll be doing my test on 30 December.
