Nov. 12th, 2009 07:54 pmDebbie and I went on a 'Focus On Improvement' course for most of the day. Two of the trainers were familiar faces - Lorna and Lesley, whom I knew very well from the telephone unit. It was an interesting course devoted to looking at how we could improve our everyday working processes, illustrated by us being divided into two teams and doing an exercise manufacturing booklets to customer order specifications. My role, as the Customer, was simple : I simply had to examine the finished booklets and pass them as Acceptable or Rejects.
When we returned to the office floor, Ray went around saying Debbie had cheated at the exercise, which she denied.
After work, met up with
girlafraid1973, who's in town for a few days, and a male pal of hers who lives locally. We went for a coffee in Costa in Fareham shopping mall, wandered around the shops for a little while, then decided the best place to take refuge from the pouring rain would be a pub. Joy, the Lord Arthur Lee had a real ale promotion on. I plumped for a Polish plum beer that turned out to be excellent. We mostly talked about music, though as her friend's a Formula 1 nut that also featured heavily in the conversation, with digressions into the tragic inability of her and myself to kick the chocolate habit, and the danger to your financial health of eBay addiction.
On my way home, bumped into Becki and Yzzy from Hawks Ladies in the bus station.
