May. 20th, 2009 04:25 pmWalking along the corridor on the way up to the unit this morning I met Jane, who said "I hear congratulations are in order." She, having got her own promotion earlier this month, was delighted for me and gave me the welcome news that when I move I'll be sitting bang opposite her.
Lots of people in the unit either gave me their congrats or asked how I'd got on. I shook Phil's hand and thanked him for his help; when he asked when I'd like to move and I said ASAP but I thought we had to wait for Sue to come back from holiday so she and my new boss Elaine could agree a transfer date, Phil said he'd sort it out with Elaine himself.
And then it was back down to earth, on to the phones (although whenever I went for a mini break more people gave me their good wishes). Ran into one angry juggernaut in the first half hour, but no more hassle after that.
Midway through the shift Cathy offered me a lift home. Then at the end of the shift her workstation had a glitch and she had to re-enter a whole survey from memory; I'd already missed the bus by then so I had to hang around a while for her. Passed the time idly surfing the net downstairs and e-mailing Kay to ask about blood donation sessions.
