I'd had a tip-off from Sue #5 that I might be able to get free long-term counselling through referral from my GP, so went to the surgery this morning. I arrived early, and unfortunately my doctor was running late and so I had to wait nearly half an hour past my appointed time. The waiting was the worst. Bad news when I got into the consulting room - she told me that, unlike the ones in the Fareham area that Sue knows of, my practice doesn't have any link-up with free counselling services. So it's six sessions with the practice's own counsellor and that's my lot. My doctor took my contact details and asked me some other stuff to fill in the referral form, then said they'd be in touch - she didn't give any clue as to how long I could expect to wait. When the call comes I will go, with an open mind, but I can't help wondering just how helpful a mere half dozen sessions are going to be...

And so on to the office, for an excellent Chicken Tikka Masala in the canteen and a busy late shift.
