(no subject)

Was sitting out in the break area just after 8.30 reading Private Eye when Sue #5's head appeared in the doorway and asked if I wanted to start half an hour early to save me from just sitting around. I normally avoid the 9-9.30 half hour like the plague as it tends to be deadly dull, but Sue said they were behind on the workload and she knew I was looking to clock up additional time, so this time I agreed.

Before going on shift I approached Pat's desk with holiday book in hand. "Not another leave request!" she exclaimed, but it was actually to do a self swap out of the day of Aunt Marian's funeral. I don't think she properly heard my explanation, as she maintained her tone of levity, but she granted my request. The opening half hour wasn't bad this time, no miseryguts and got a reasonable interview done.

I'd already agreed yesterday to stay on till 3 pm today when Sue had mentioned there was a backlog, so ended up doing a six hour stretch. At least I got to come off the phones a little early to go through the Employee Engagement Survey.
