Nearly all the games in my league were called off this morning because of frozen pitches. I was due to have just one game to cover, but I've just had a phone call to say the ref's had a change of mind and called it off, so no Statto duty this afternoon.

Your Country Needs You : Why is Arlene Phillips on the judging panel? Couldn't we have had Carrie Grant, who has experience judging a SINGING casting show and who has sung at ESC herself?

I think Jade is The One. Emperors of Soul are very good but their choice of song tonight didn't play to their strengths; their parts in the all-the-boys performance of No Matter What were a better reflection of the harmony singing that is their biggest asset. In the end, a pretty young girl is more likely to pull in the votes than a male group, so Jade it is. Francine and Nicola performed very well but please, please tell me that if they win the ticket to Moscow we are not going to enter them under the name 'The Twins'.

Great to hear that ALW's writing partner will be Diane Warren; if we can't have a major pop star, next best is having one of the most successful pop songwriters in the world ever. The eviction had the right result; Damien was the weakest of the six performers. So no grumbles this week.
