Oct. 27th, 2008 06:12 pmWent to work in a bad mood because of the Jade affair, being deprived of my week's fix of wrestling, and facing a whole week with no bright spots apart from a double bill of Kenny Everett on Paramount tonight. Thankfully I didn't get any abuse on the phones.
Cathy dropped me on Rowner Road and I got a bus the rest of the way. I fancied treating myself to a chicken Doner, so after stopping to buy The News I walked up to Gosport Best - and the place was shut. "Fucking bollocks," I said out loud, and turned towards home throwing in an "Arseholes!" for good measure.
Then came my driving lesson. With the change of clocks, it was my first taste of driving in the dark. When, in the opening minutes, I managed to stall on Alver Bridge I exclaimed "FUCK IT!" drawing a "Don't get angry" from Peter. The rest of the lesson went pretty much like a daytime one - still taking the odd bend too fast, still coming round corners wide (on one such corner I was going wide to avoid a parked lorry, but apparently you've still got to come round the bend closer to the kerb and then swerve round the lorry), but Peter reckoned it was pretty good for my first ever night lesson.
Stop press - THE HAWKS ARE GOING TO BE ON TELLY! After the TV companies embarrassed themselves last year by ignoring our cup matches, our match with Brentford is going live on ITV1.
